Same compact silhouette, same rigid chassis with integrated protective frame around the propellers, and still those little removable protectors attached above. Seen from a distance, the two look very similar: same rounded design, same spirit. But on closer inspection, the Neo 2 is a <strong>little bigger <\/strong>(a few centimetres wider and deeper) and <strong>a little heavier<\/strong>: <strong>151 to 160 g<\/strong> depending on version, compared with 135 g for the first model. Despite these changes, its dimensions remain very compact, one of the characteristics that have made the Neo range so successful. It also stands out with a slightly darker shade of grey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first real innovation on the front is <strong>the status display<\/strong>. This small display replaces the luminous icons of the first model, and shows <g id=\"gid_1\">the<\/g>active or selected flight mode, as well as the main settings (height, maximum distance, etc., depending on the mode used). This welcome status screen is accompanied by <strong>three new buttons on the side<\/strong> (as opposed to two on the top before), which can be used to switch on the drone, launch it, change modes or adjust a few settings, without having to take out your smartphone.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the rear of the Neo 2, some packages &#8211; those with remote control &#8211; include a small, <strong>removable transceiver module<\/strong>. This gray box attaches to the rear of the drone via four integrated screws (impossible to lose), and is visually distinguished by two antennas protruding from the top. This module enables the Neo 2 to be used with a <g id=\"gid_1\">conventional radio control system<\/g> or in <g id=\"gid_2\">FPV mode, <\/g>depending on the chosen configuration. It is not required for stand-alone use.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lastly, DJI&#8217;s recording model is still <strong>without a microSD card<\/strong>. But the good news is that internal memory has been increased<strong> from 22 to 49 GB<\/strong>, enough to record up to 105 minutes of video in 4K 60 fps or 175 minutes in 4K 30 fps. As a result, it is still <strong>classified in C0<\/strong>, the most permissive European category. This means it can be flown over residential, urban or industrial areas, after a simple online declaration. The display on the front allows you to view these settings before launching the flight. At the end, it automatically returns to land in the outstretched hand. This mode can be used without a phone or remote control, and lends itself perfectly to use of the <strong>new gesture control mode<\/strong><em>(see box above<\/em>).   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-primary-color has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\">\u270b\ud83c\udffb <strong>Gesture control (new)<br><\/strong>An intuitive, well-thought-out mode that lets you pilot the drone <strong>without a remote control or smartphone<\/strong>. Once activated (hand raised in front of the drone), several simple gestures enable interaction: <strong>palms spread apart <\/strong>to move backwards, palms together to move forwards, or <strong>lateral\/vertical movement of one hand<\/strong> to adjust position. This system makes it possible to crop or adjust distance on the fly, without interrupting the recording. The result is fluid, natural, and ultra-practical for fine-tuning your framing directly in flight.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Control via the<strong>DJI Fly app<\/strong> is a good gateway to classic piloting, with on-screen <strong>virtual joysticks<\/strong> and the ability to give <strong>voice commands<\/strong>. Connection is via <strong>Wi-Fi<\/strong>, with a theoretical range of <strong>500 meters<\/strong>. According to user feedback, this range is often less, especially when there are obstacles or the environment is not very clear.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For <strong>more advanced piloting<\/strong>, the Neo 2 can be fitted with an <strong>O4 transceiver<\/strong> (supplied in certain packs), to be attached to the rear of the drone. This module unlocks the drone\u2019s full long-range video transmission capabilities: the DJI Neo 2 can then achieve a maximum transmission distance of up to <strong>10 km (FCC) <\/strong>or <strong>6 km (CE)<\/strong>, which is more than sufficient for recreational use, although the actual range will always depend on the environment and any obstacles present. limited to a single axis. In theory, this evolution allows for better image stabilization, particularly during lateral movements or changes of angle. The addition remains modest compared to the 3-axis pods of more advanced models, but it does its job of stabilizing images in most situations, as long as weather conditions are not too turbulent.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the sensor side, we find the <strong>same 1\/2-inch<\/strong>, but with a reworked image processing. The aperture is increased to<strong> f\/2.2<\/strong>, slightly brighter than that of the original Neo (f\/2.8), which helps a little in low light. The <strong>ISO range has <\/strong>also <strong>been extended <\/strong>, from <strong>100 to 12800<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For photos, the Neo 2 captures up to <strong>12 megapixels<\/strong>. In video, the Neo 2 films in <strong>4K at up to 60 fps<\/strong>. And with a <strong>DJI remote control<\/strong>, it unlocks a <strong>100 fps slow-motion mode<\/strong>. In vertical mode, it automatically crops in 4K to produce <strong>2.7K<\/strong> video <strong>at up to 60 fps<\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Image_quality_a_real_leap_forward\"><\/span>Image quality: a real leap forward<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DJI has clearly revised its copy. The Neo 2&#8217;s image is <strong>much more usable<\/strong> than that of the first model. More <strong>detail<\/strong>, <strong>sharper<\/strong> focus, better light management&#8230; You can feel that image processing has been improved. In daylight, images are <strong>really clean<\/strong> and can be shared directly on networks, without retouching.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That said, this is still a <strong>camera designed for the general public<\/strong>. No flat profile, no LOG mode, no RAW photos either: you get a ready-to-use image, but no room for calibration. It is possible to <strong>manually adjust <\/strong>exposure and a few other classic parameters, but only if the drone is connected to a DJI remote control.
